Georgia Senator refuses to continue right to Rider unique file

May 5, 2012 /24-7PressRelease / -spring brings a number of annual rituals of Georgians: time warmer, the Masters golf tournament and flowers of spring, to name a few. For lovers of cycling, spring marks a chance to pursue their passion. However, a Bill to reduce accidents almost changed bicycle cycling how can on roads of Georgia.

Senator Butch Miller (R-Gainesville) has proposed a bill that would have required single file cyclists on the streets. He met resistance, such as groups of cycling as Georgia bikes and wheel movement argued that the new format would create significant risks for runners. They testified before the Senate Transportation Committee and explained that drivers would be less likely to see riders in single file, and that they would be more likely to pass without the barrier of three feet required by law. After all, it would be difficult for even the most incompetent driver see a group of cyclists from a single line of riders.

Better Options exist

After hearing testimony, Senator Miller confirmed that he would not seek the passage of the Bill. Instead, he is committed to working with groups of bicycles on a complete streets policy that would harmonize the different modes of transport. The importance of the policy is that highways should be designed for cars, cyclists and pedestrians both and should include facilities to improve safety and access for users. Safety advocates and Atlanta injury lawyers were hopeful that the new policy will be beneficial for cyclists in Atlanta.

In the meantime, education is a key element in the promotion of safety and the prevention of accidents. Although there are some benefits in horseback riding with friends, runners cannot be complacent when it comes to security. Even in groups, cyclists share responsibility for aware traffic (and obey).
